SOUTHERN ALBERTA: If you have driven across Whoop-up Bridge, you probably noticed the river level is higher. It will continue to rise over the next few days.
Alberta Environment has issued a High-Stream flow Advisory for several areas within the Oldman River Basin. On Tuesday, the advisory was issued for Pincher Creek, Lee Creek, Drywood Creek and Waterton River.
On Wednesday, the Belly River and the Waterton River downstream of the Waterton Dam were also added. Over the past few days, 40 to 60-mms of rain has fallen in in the South-west, while areas around Cardston received more than 100-mms. Another 10 to 20-mms or rain is expected by Thursday.
Although no major flooding expected at this time, there could be minor flooding in low-lying areas and you should be cautious along river banks which can be unstable.
