Regional Police Find Three Young Children Home Alone

LETHBRIDGE:  A 22-year old city woman faces child abandonment charges.  In order to protect the identity of the children, the woman can not be identified.

Regional police did a well-being check at a south-side home about 2:35 Thursday morning and saw three small children who appeared to be unattended.  When police could not contact an adult occupant, they went into the unlocked home.   A two-month old infant girl, a 20-month old girl and a three-year old boy were home alone. The mother of the children did not return home until 4:25 the same morning.

Child and family Services took custody of the children.  The mother will be in court June 28th to face three charges of child abandonment and one count of willfully causing a child to be in need of intervention.
