Twice As Many Vendors Expected At Downtown Farmers' Market This Summer

LETHBRIDGE:   The 5th annual Downtown Farmer's Market is set to begin July 6th.  It will run every Wednesday from 10-am to 3-pm through September 14th. Once again it be located at Festival Square at 3rd Avenue and 6th street south.  However, to accomodate the need for expanded space, the north entrance off 3rd Avenue will be closed to allow the free-flow of pedestrian traffic in the market area.

This year, you will be able to shop at up to 30-booths or almost double the number from 2009. You will be able to choose from a variety of local items including fresh produce, crafts, baking and art work. You'll also be able to enjoy the entertainment of Buskers in what's being called "The sounds of downtown".  Their entertainment at different street corners adds to the vibrancy of downtown.

Downtown B-R-Z Director Ted Stilson says the mid-week farmers' market quickly created bonus activity, "We've seen over the years as it's grown, a lot more people coming to the downtown core -- and not just for the Farmers' Market but, to experience all the downtown has to offer - all the great little coffee shops, restaurants, and boutique retailers -- it's been kind of a boon to all of the other businesses in the downtown core as well."  Stilson went on to say, " Live music, great food, great parties -- kind of a festival atmosphere".

You can find Farmers' Market booth registration and information at www.exhibitionpark.ca or call 403-328-4491.
