LETHBRIDGE: Repairs begin on Monday to the Lethbridge Skate Park.
The city will be patching and sealing cracks and seams, adjusting rail heights and angles to allow for safe transitions, and smoothing out grinding edges. The park will be closed during the day next week, but will open at 4pm daily.
However, the man behind the push for a new skate park Peter Barry says the repairs still don't fix the real issues. He says the repairs satisfy the need to get that skate park safe again, however it does not solve any location issues, which is the biggest problem with that park.
To get a new skate park they must raise 600-thousand dollars over the next 18 months. They currently have collected 225-thousand dollars, which includes a large grant from the city.
They are hoping for corporate and community donations, as well as a number of other grants.
