Show and Shine Kicks Off Local Group's 50th Anniversary
LETHBRIDGE: One of Lethbridge's most established car clubs celebrated its 50th anniversary this weekend. The Le Baron's car club hosted a show and shine Saturday to mark the club's fiftieth anniversary.
"They're going to see all different kinds of vehicles, all different kinds of manufacturers, all different colours and many different ideas," said the club's event coordinator, Tal Meidinger. "The customized ones have thousands and thousands of ideas and if anyone's interested in a hobby it's a great place to start, if you want to come down and talk to the people who own the cars."
The show and shine was set to run until 4 p.m. Saturday afternoon, at the corner of 6th Avenue and Mayor Magrath Drive. Meanwhile, upwards of 400 car collectors will spend the rest of the weekend convening in Lethbridge to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the club. "It gets people together. We meet new people from Lethbridge and other areas, which shows them what we can do as a city," said Meidinger. Collectors will travel from all over western Canada and the U.S. for the meeting, which the city's economic group estimates will attract $300,000 in direct spending.
