Skateboarder Dies From Injuries Suffered In West Lethbridge

LETHBRIDGE:  A skateboarding incident in West Lethbridge has claimed a life.

Around 7 o clock on Friday night, a Toyota 4 Runner driven by a 20-year-old man was traveling on Red Crow Blvd West with two skateboarders holding onto the vehicle being towed behind.

One of the skateboarders, a 24-year-old man from Lethbridge, lost his grip on the vehicle and his balance and fell over, colliding with both the vehicle and the road surface.  He was not wearing any protective gear.

The man was transported to Chinook Regional Hospital with serious, life threatening injuries.  Then was flown to Calgary Foothills Hospital where he died.

The collision remains under investigation, but police say alcohol, speed, road conditions and distracted driving do not appear to be factors.

The second skateboarder was not injured.
