Man Critically Injured By Industrial Accident

LETHBRIDGE - A man is in hospital in critical condition after an industrial accident in West Lethbridge.

Around 8 o clock Saturday morning, emergency crews were called out to 30th Street West, just south of Walsh Drive.

A 50-year-old man was laying pipe in a trench about 30 feet deep in a protective cage with another employee.  A 4 meter section of pipe was being lowered into the cage and down to the bottom of the trench when the pipe slipped out of the harness and hit the 50-year-old man.

The victim was taken to the Chinook Regional Hospital to be stabilized and was then transported to Foothills Hospital in Calgary where he remains in critical condition.
