Second Degree Murder Case Set Over to October

LETHBRIDGE: The second degree murder case against Luis Alfonso Ochoa-Gamez has been adjourned until October 20th.

It's hoped that some progress can be made in the case now that Ochoa-Gamez has finally retained a lawyer through legal aid, something he's been working on since his first court appearance August 25th.

He's accused of shooting Mauro Hernandez-Renteria October 13th, 2010 outside a Shaughnessy home, over what police are calling a drug dispute.

Ochoa-Gamez was arrested just five days after the incident in the United States, as he was allegedly trying to get into Mexico. He was eventually returned to Canada August 16th following an extradition order.

At his next court appearance in October, Ochoa-Gamez will appear in person at the Lethbridge courthouse.
