Catholic School Division Avoids Major Cuts and Brings in Part Time Staff
LETHBRIDGE: Early planning by the Holy Spirit Roman Catholic School Division has them in good shape for this year.
Superintendent Chris Smeaton told Country 95 News that they didn't have to make any major cuts entering this school year, because of measures taken over the last several years.
As staff retired the school division held off on filling those positions, meaning with government funding drying up they didn't need to make the drastic cuts that saw other divisions have to let go of numerous teachers and support staff.
Smeaton added that this year 30 more students then expected have registered in the division, allowing them hire two part time staff, with plans to fill a couple more part time positions.
