Lethbridge Tallies 5th Traffic Fatality And City Man Is Charged with Arson
LETHBRIDGE: The city's 5th traffic fatality occurred at 11:45 Thursday night. A 62-year
old man was hit by a Ford Explorer while he was walking in the 2500-block of
19th avenue south. He succumbed to his injured in the Regional hospital.
The SUV was driven by a 29-year old city woman. No names have been released
as the investigation continues.
Also Thursday, a 56-year old city man was charged with four counts of arson.
It's alleged Eugeniusz Jan Wilanowicz went to a home in the 500-block of 20th
street north at about 5:00 and got into an argument with a 27-year old woman. It's alleged Wilanowicz lit a towel on fire, causing the home to fill with smoke.
At the time, an adult male and two young boys were also in the home.
The subjects are known to each other and this is not a random act. No one was injured. Wilanowiz was arrested a short time after the incident and makes his first court appearance October 7th to answer the charges
