Lumber Pierces Man's Neck In Work Place Accident

LETHBRIDGE:  A work place accident sent a 55-year old city man to hospital with a potentially life-threatening injury Wednesday morning.

At about 9:45, the man was feeding a four metre lumber into a rip saw at Triple-M Housing at 3501 Griffen Road North.  A piece of wood pierced the worker's neck when the lumber caught on the blade and was thrown back out.

The man was first taken to the Regional Hospital and then flown by STARS to Calgary hospital. He is in stable condition.

Occupational Health and Safety spokeswoman Sorcha Thomas told Country-95 News that a "stop-use" order was issued on the saw involved and they investigate.  She noted, "Our officers will look at all factors of the incident and if charges are warranted the province has up to two years to file the charges".
