LETHBRIDGE - The Oldtimers Hockey Challenge returns to Lethbridge Monday night.
The event, which has run for 23-years, helps to raise money for various groups across the country with former NHL stars taking on local teams. Here in Lethbridge ticket sales will go towards the Chinook Regional Hospital Foundation.
On the roster for this years event are Theoren Fleury, Billy Smith, Ron Duguay, Cliff Ronning, Larry Melnyk and Dennis Polonich. They'll be playing the Alberta Law Enforcement Hockey team.
Joining the tour for the first time is recently retired NHL referee Kerry Fraser. Fraser officiated in the NHL for 30-years, handling everything regular season games to playoff matchups and even the 1998 Olympics in Nagano, Japan.
He explained that he was blessed to have the career he had, and that this is a great opportunity to give back to a number of worthy causes across Canada. He also commented that the event gives fans a chance to see the players they've admired from afar up close and personal.
The game starts at 7 o'clock Monday night at the Nicholas Sheran arena.
