Jerry Johnson Set to Receive Unescorted Temporary Absences

LETHBRIDGE: The man convicted of defrauding 50 people locally out of $2.4-million last year, starts getting unescorted temporary absences Monday.

Jerry Russell Johnson was found guilty at trial of running a ponzi scheme and was sentenced to 13-years in custody April 6th of 2010, however that was reduced to 10-years upon appeal last December.

Johnson's next scheduled change is set for February 5th, 2013 when he'll receive Day Parole. His Statutory Release is also in place for December 5th, 2016.

While some of the money was never recovered, a restitution order is in place meaning Johnson's victims can go after him for their money, even if he declares bankruptcy.
