Lethbridge MP Addresses "Offensive" Gesture

LETHBRIDGE: Local MP Jim Hillyer is addressing gestures he made while he voted to axe the long gun registry during the call for decision last month.

His comments come after a YouTube video featuring Hillyer miming a two-gun shoot-out during the vote went viral Tuesday, December 6, which is the day set aside to remember the lives of 14 women killed during the Montreal massacre at Ecole Polytechnique.

Hillyer told a national media outlet that if anyone was offended they should blame the person who went public with the six-week-old video on the day of the anniversary. Though he didn't actually apologize, he vowed to avoid using gestures during future votes.
