RCMP dealt with highway carnage Monday morning.
Just before 11:00, officers were called west of the city. The incident
began when an eastbound SUV driven by a 52-year old Airdrie man collided with a
Mack semi unit that was turning south onto Highway-3.

At this point, a third semi, a Kenworth, collided with the first semi,
pushing it into the ditch. None of the semi drivers were injured.
No names have been released as the investigation continues.
The Highway-3 collision was not the first of the day. About 9:00, RCMP shut down Highway-845 north of Coaldale. They needed
about 3-hours to untangled a collision involving more than a dozen vehicles,
about 5-kilometres north of the town. A south-bound semi hit ice and slid into
the north-bound lane, striking another semi. A string of vehicles coming from
both directions then ran into the semis.
While most injuries were minor, one
man was sent to hospital with non life-threatening injuries, and another man
suffered serious injures.
At the time of both incidents, roads were slick and fog had significantly
