Another Chain Reaction Collision Results From Lack of Attention

LETHBRIDGE:  Multi-vehicle collisions are becoming a bad norm in our area.

About 8:00 Tuesday morning, a string of four-collisions involving seven-vehicles, occurred in the west-bound lanes of Highway-3 near the 13th street over-pass.

In the first collision, a vehicle lost control, struck the centre median then crossed the lanes and hit a guard rail.

The second collision happened as a driver slowed for the first collision and was rear ended.

The third collision involved a car trying to avoid the first crashes .

In the fourth incident, two-cars slowed for the previous crashes but were hit by another vehcile behind them.

There were no injuries but, the last vehicle in the crash, a white or grey car, fled the scene.

Police remind you:

-- Slow down. Travel at a safe speed reflective of the road conditions.

--  Increase your following distance to give yourself more time and space to react to the unexpected.

--  Pay extra attention and use the utmost caution at all intersections, exit ramps and bridge decks.

--  Avoid overtaking large vehicles and snow plows unless absolutely necessary

--  Allow more time for all driving maneuvers – stopping, changing lanes, passing a vehicle, crossing at an intersection

-- Remove all snow and ice from your front, rear and side windows to ensure maximum visibility.

-- Leave a little early to allow extra time to arrive at your destination.

-- Check weather conditions and road reports before heading out.
