LETHBRIDGE: Multi-vehicle collisions are becoming a bad norm in our area.
About 8:00 Tuesday morning, a string of four-collisions involving
seven-vehicles, occurred in the west-bound lanes of Highway-3 near the 13th
In the first collision, a vehicle lost control, struck the
centre median then crossed the lanes and hit a guard rail.
The second collision happened as a driver slowed for the
first collision and was rear ended.
The third collision involved a car trying to avoid the first
In the fourth incident, two-cars slowed for the previous
crashes but were hit by another vehcile behind them.
There were no injuries but, the last vehicle in the crash, a white or grey
car, fled the scene.
Police remind you:
-- Slow down. Travel at a safe speed reflective of the road
-- Increase your following distance to give yourself more
time and space to react to the unexpected.
-- Pay extra attention and
use the utmost caution at all intersections, exit ramps and bridge
-- Avoid overtaking large vehicles and snow plows unless
-- Allow more time for all driving maneuvers –
stopping, changing lanes, passing a vehicle, crossing at an
-- Remove all snow and ice from your front, rear and side
windows to ensure maximum visibility.
-- Leave a little early to allow
extra time to arrive at your destination.
-- Check weather conditions and
road reports before heading out.
