LETHBRIDGE: Regional police have put a dent in a stolen auto ring and charged three-men and a
woman, all from Lethbridge.
The month long investigation determined seven-vehicles were stolen from
Lethbridge, Calgary, Airdrie and Winnipeg with a combined value over $150,000.
Most of the vehicles had their Vehicle Identification Numbers (VIN) removed or
During executed search warrants at three-locations in the city and one in
the County of Lethbridge on Tuesday, the Regional Police Organized Crime Unit
and RCMP also found drugs, cash and guns. Along with the seven-vehicles, they
seized $4,000 in cash, three shot guns, a handgun, 30-grams of cocaine,
220-grams of marijuana.
William Alexander Tycholas, 27, of Lethbridge, is charged with two counts
each of possession of stolen property over $5,000, possession of a controlled
substance for the purpose of trafficking and one count of possession of the
proceeds of crime.
John James Hewlett, 48, is charged with three counts
of possession of stolen property over $5,000 and one count each of theft over
$5,000 and possession of stolen property over $5,000 for the purpose of
Michael Roland Taylor, 46, is charged with five counts of
possession of stolen property over $5,000 and one count of possession of stolen
property over $5,000 for the purpose of trafficking.
22, faces one count of possession of the proceeds of crime.
Hewlett and Taylor, were released from custody and make their first court
appearance December 23, 2011. Schafer was also released from custody and is
scheduled to appear in court January 26, 2012.
