LETHBRIDGE: The local real estate market is headed in the right direction, just a little slower than some may like.
Immediate past president of the local Real Estate Association, Rick Braden, stated that the number of homes sold last year climbed 11-per cent over 2010, going from 988 to 1093 sales of single family homes in Lethbridge. The average sale price increased about 2-per cent, from just under $279,000 in 2010 to $283,000 in 2011.
Braden explained that buyers are simply taking more time when looking for a new home, keeping things from really picking up steam.
He added that he expects the trend to continue into the first six months of 2012, with the local real estate market expected to pick up again in the second half of the year.
