Record Highs Set In Southern Alberta

 
 
SOUTHERN ALBERTA:    Alberta's "Hot Spot" on Wednesday was Grassy Lake, just east of Taber, which got up to 15.7 degrees. Lethbridge didn't break it's record high, with a temperature 15.4-degrees, which is just under the record high of 16-degrees, set in 1984. 

However, nine south-west Alberta communities did break temperature records on Wednesday and by more than a couple of degrees.  The list follows with yesterday's temperatures in bold and the previous recorded highs in brackets:

Bow Island 15  (7.9 /2003)

Brooks  14.8  (6.4 / 2001)

Cardston 14.2  (9.2 / 2008)

Claresholm 14.3  (10.6/ 1958)

Crowsnest 10.1  (5.5 / 2003)

Milk River 14.7  (11.4 / 2003)

Pincher Creek 10.8  (7.4 / 2008)

Vauxhall 15.3  (9 / 2001)

Waterton Park Gate 11.8  (8.5 / 2003)

Wednesday's peak wind gusts in Southern Alberta came in at 117-kmph in Claresholm, Waterton Park Gate hit 109-kmph and Pincher Creek clocked 107-kmph.  By comparison, the Lethbridge peak wind was 78-kmph.
