Wildrose Seniors Critic Visits Lethbridge To Hear Local Concerns
LETHBRIDGE - The Official Opposition Seniors tour rolled into Lethbridge on Friday.
Wildrose Seniors Critic Kerry Towle is traveling the province to hear about
issues facing seniors as they age. She's been hearing concerns about access to
home cooked meals, having to leave communities while waiting for continuing care
placement and the ability to age in the home with support.
Towle is also worried seniors services could see cuts when the provincial
budget comes out next week. She says "cuts to front line workers and cuts to
health care services usually directly impact our seniors, it really is an area
that is low hanging fruit to the government and the impacts of it aren't seen
immediately, but the impacts, when they are seen are devastating."
She says the front line staff can't handle anymore cuts, but the Alberta
Health super board can, since they're responsible for a huge amount of wasteful
spending.
