Southern Alberta Ethnic Association To Move Into Former Downtown Fire Hall
LETHBRIDGE - The Southern Alberta Ethnic Association has a new home and the City is saving
money in the process.
The group has been operating out of the Bill Kergan
Centre, but On Monday, City Council decided to scrap a $5.5-million renovation
of that building and instead move the group into the old fire hall on 6th Avenue
South, which can be renovated for $4.3-million, saving $1.2
million.
Councillor Jeff Carlson feels this is a better option since the
site will be more accessible and the fire hall building is in much better shape
than the Kergan Centre.
Carlson says they will now look at any future uses of the Kergan Centre and
if it is deemed surplus it could go up for sale.
