Brewery Hill Visitor Information Site To Close In 2014

LETHBRIDGE - With declining visitors, the Chinook Country Tourist Association has decided to close the Brewery Hill Information Centre in 2014.

In the meantime, they will reduce days of service at the site this year. It will open in mid-May and close at the end of September. The amount of visitors to the Brewery Hill site dropped to 7,655 in 2012 compared to 15,913 in 2007.

Executive Director Nikolaus Wyslouzil says people are getting information a lot differently than they used to and this move will allow them to focus on the technology side of things, with less people on the counter face-to-face but more highly skilled social media and website people.

One-on-one visitor services will still be offered at the Scenic Drive location.
