Cats Being Treated At Pet Hospital After Fire At Last Chance Cat Ranch
LETHBRIDGE - A lot of people are concerned for the animals that were injured in Tuesdays south-side house fire.
The blaze started in the attic just
before 5pm on Tuesday at the home known as the "Last Chance Cat Ranch" in the
3300 block of 6th Avenue South. Still no cause has been determined. Damage is estimated at $150,000.
Fire Chief Brian Cornforth says a number of
cats were able to escape the home through open windows and doors. 28 of
the injured cats are being treated at the Family Pet Hospital on Mayor Magrath
Drive. Some are doing well but others have bad facial and paw-pad burns, eye
ulcers and suffer from smoke inhalation. The number of cats brought in has put a
strain on the pet hospital. They're collecting donations, if you'd like to help
out, you can call 403-320-5200.
Dwane Ens with the City says a lot of the rescue groups in town have agreed
to take some of these cats in once they heal, others will go to the Animal
Shelter. Posted on Wednesday, March 06, 2013 at 5/25/2013 2:38:57 PM
