Lethbridge: As Fraud Prevention month continues, week 2 focuses on Counterfeit cards and skimming.

Lethbridge Regional Police warn in bigger centres, they've found point of sales terminals in business have been swapped. This is an easy way for scammers to gather a cards information.

Police suggest regularly changing your pin number and checking your banking account to prevent skimming.

"If your card has been skimmed, sometimes now, criminals are holding that information and not using it for periods of time to avoid being caught. If you're card is compromised and they do happen to have your pin and card number, by the time they go to use it or use a fake credit card, if you've changed your pin, you won't be a victim." said Sergeant Christy Woods.

They also recommend letting your credit card company know if you're leaving the country.
