Claresholm Man Will Stand Trial In First Degree Murder Of Vulcan Senior
LETHBRIDGE: A 36-year old Claresholm man will be going to trial in the death of a 77-year old Vulcan
senior.
Otto "Bunty" Loose was reported missing from his home on January 9th of 2012
and his vehicle later found in Calgary. A few days after he was reported
missing, his remains were found in a wooded area west of Claresholm.
Timmy Douglas Engel of Claresholm was charged with first degree
murder and offering an indignity to a human body in the case. RCMP alleged that
Engel took Loose from his home on January 8th, then drove to Nanton and
Claresholm, where the accused attempted several suspicious banking transactions.
After that, the victim is alleged to have been murdered at a rural location near
Claresholm.
A preliminary hearing in Lethbridge court this week determined there is
enough evidence for Engel to stand trial and a date will be set on April 8th.
