Alberta Emergency Alert Launches New Voice for Warning System

 
 

ALBERTA: Alberta Emergency Alert launches a new digital voice Wednesday afternoon for its warning system, after getting complaints about the clarity of the current one over the last couple of years in the wake of emergencies province wide.

 

The new voice is male, as opposed to the previous female one, something that Melinda Steenbergen with Municipal Affairs touched on, "It's not a gender thing actually. We did some testing with different groups and included people who spoke english as a second language and people who had difficulty hearing, and we just went for the best technology we could find, and this happened to be the one that won."
