LETHRBIDGE: A hit-and-run collision Thursday morning resulted in injuries to two people
and involvement of a K-9 Unit.
Just before 1:00-am, a north-bound truck in the alley west of 13 Street
North, crossed 5th Avenue at a high rate of speed and was hit by an
east-bound car.
After being hit by the car, the truck collided with the southwest corner of
First United Church. The driver of the truck and one of his passengers fled the
scene on foot, while two additional truck passengers remained at the scene.
A K-9 Unit located the driver a short distance away and he was arrested. Two
passengers in the truck suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries,
while the truck's driver and the additional passenger suffered minor
injuries.
Neither of the occupants in the car were injured.
Police have charged 21-year old Cameron Nelson Dale Rae, of Raymond, with two
counts of impaired driving causing bodily harm, one count of refusing to provide
a breath sample following a bodily harm accident, two counts of dangerous
driving causing bodily harm, one count of driving an uninsured motor vehicle,
one count of driving an unregistered motor vehicle and one count of displaying
an unauthorized license plate on a vehicle.
