Fire Investigators Pin-Point Cause And Origin Of Boston Pizza Fire
LETHBRIDGE - Fire Investigators believe the fire at Boston Pizza south was caused by a
fridge compressor and associated electrical components.
The investigation determined the fire began in the north central area of the
restaurant.
However, fire officials will be waiting for evidence to be assessed by
forensic experts to verify their findings.
Fire Prevention Officer Mark Hoveling says the building didn't have a sprinkler
system, which is pretty common for restaurants in the province since only
buildings with over 300 people inside at one time are required to have one.
Hoveling adds if Boston Pizza did have a sprinkler system, the damage would
have been much less and the fire could possibly have been out by the time fire
crews arrived.
Flames destroyed the building early Wednesday morning. Posted on Friday, March 22, 2013 at 5/24/2013 9:10:34 AM
