LETHBRIDGE: 37-year old Gregory Dempsie and 35-year old Terry Louro have admitted to a string of incidents, in which they spent counterfeit US money on 21 occassions at 18 businesses in BC and Alberta, including Lethbridge.
Between November 4th and December 8th of last year the businesses impacted lost $1,725 either in products or change given to the two for the counterfeit currency.
The two were finally caught and arrested on December 8th when an employee at a local business called police with a complaint of the counterfeit money. Upon arrest police found another $15,000 in fake cash on the couple.
In court Dempsie claimed they found the uncut counterfeit sheets and tools in Calgary and simply took them.
