Opportunity To Provide Input On Upcoming Capital Budget
LETHBRIDGE - There's a couple opportunities for you to provide input on the
upcoming capital budget.
On Tuesday night from 6 to 8pm, there's an open
house at City Hall where you can view all the capital projects that are being
proposed and speak with members of City Council and administration. City
Treasurer Corey Wight will make a presentation at 7pm about the available
funding and what the process will be going forward.
There will also be a public meeting on April 15th, that will basically be an
open mic, where you can tell City Council members about your preferences and
priorities regarding the budget. If you would like to speak for up to 5 minutes,
contact the City Clerks office at 403-320-4083 to get on the agenda. You can
also provide a written submission to email@example.com or give feedback
online at www.lethbridge.ca/cip.
Changes were made this year to allow for more public consultation. Councillor
Bridget Mearns says "the Open and Effective Government Committee took a look at
how this process has been laid out in the past and it was determined that it was
too late to get public input, by the time the public was asked for their input
the projects had been narrowed down already, so this is a way of allowing the
public to have some input before we prioritize the projects at all."
City Council members will debate these projects during the week of May 6 to
10th to determine which projects get funding. Posted on Monday, April 01, 2013 at 12/7/2013 1:49:42 PM
