Not Much Funding Available For Community Projects

LETHBRIDGE - There's way more projects than there is funding in the upcoming capital budget.

After taking out funding for previously approved projects or to maintain assets that the city currently owns, City Council will be left with about $68.5 million for future community projects.

It really isn't much when you look at the cost of some of the proposed projects like a downtown parking garage for almost $15 million, just phase 1 of a leisure centre is $50 million, a new performing arts centre would cost $55 million, and $25 million for redevelopment of Exhibition Park, just to name a few.

All the proposed projects will be debated by members of City Council during the week of May 6th to 10th.
