RCMP Make Significant Cash Seizure On Highway-2

OLDS:  Cheaters never prosper and neither do dumb criminals. Carrying the proceeds of crime with you, will eventually become your undoing, particularly if you break the law while holding the cash.

Just after 2:00 on Monday afternoon, an RCMP Traffic Services officer was patrolling near Olds on the QEII and stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation.

The traffic stop resulted in a CDSA (Controlled Drug and Substance Act) investigation and Police Service Dog Gus was called into duty. He and an officer searched the vehicle and discovered several large sealed bags of Canadian currency.

The value of the found cash is estimated to be between $300,000 and $500,000.

The un-named driver was arrested under the Criminal Code provisions of Proceeds of Crime and the money was seized.
