Exhibition Park Feels City Budget Request Is Justified

LETHBRIDGE - With city budget deliberations quickly approaching, the General Manager at Exhibition Park believes their redevelopment project should be a high priority.

Exhibition Park is asking City Council for 25 million dollars towards the 90 million dollar redevelopment project that would include a new Trade and Convention Centre and Agriplex.

Rudy Friesen says the project will be worth the investment because its something that everyone in the city can benefit from and creates an opportunity for growth in the city by bringing new activities into the community.

Friesen adds, in terms of economic impact, "Just the new opportunities that we would bring into town that don't even currently come here, would represent $30 million over the first 10 years of the project."

City Council will debate all the proposed projects from May 6th to 10th to determine which projects should receive funding.
