LETHBRIDGE: A new locally based live streaming webcast series launches Wednesday night in our city.
SouthernAlberta.com will kick off "REAL TALK" at 7:00pm, with the first episode titled "Journalism and Citizen Journalism". The pilot will be centred on the topic of how the public via social media is now having an impact on journalism.
The discussion follows a presentation at SACPA (Southern Alberta Council on Public Affairs) on April 4th, at which the creator of a citizen journalist website made some debatable and inflammatory comments about conventional media. Immediately after the presentation a brief exchange followed on Twitter, prompting SoutherAlberta.com to come forward with the idea of a forum that would allow both sides of the issue to share their thoughts and information.
Represented at the premier of REAL TALK will be Country 95 News, The Lethbridge Herald, CJOC News, CTV Lethbridge, Lethbridge Living Magazine and citizen journalism outlet Lethbridge News.
The public is also asked to get involved by asking questions using Twitter and the hashtage #realtalksab. Or, email questions/comments to firstname.lastname@example.org
