LETHBRIDGE: MP Jim Hillyer is remembering a more difficult time as he mends from a ski injury. The accident happened
on April 1st at the Fernie Alpine Resort while on an excursion with his son.
Hillyer has underwent reconstructive surgery on his right leg last week, to
repair a shattered right tibia, fibula and damage to the knee.
Hillyer states, "As painful and frustrating as the past weeks have been, it is
nothing compared to the months I spend in hospital during my cancer treatments in
2003". At that time, Hillyer was being treated for aggressive leukemia.
The Lethbridge Member of Parliament is taking advantage of his down time, to
remind everyone about the work of the Canadian Cancer Society, which provided
support to himself, his wife and their young children during his cancer fight.
Hillyer makes note of the fact that April is Cancer Awareness Month and
donations fund research into treatments that helped save his life and the
lives of others. He asks that his constituents support the Canadian Cancer
