Council Begins Planning For Expected Growth In Lethbridge's Southeast.
LETHBRIDGE: Developer interest in the south-east corner of the city has prompted City
Council members to be pro-active.
Council has approved $475,000 from the city's operating budget, to plan
development of the 564 hectares of land east of 43rd street, north and south of
Highway-4. The money will be recouped from developers, as new neighbourhoods
An area structure plan will integrate Fairmont and Southgate neighbourhoods
with the area which has yet to be developed. It will create a framework for land
uses, traffic circulation, and utility services in the future urban
Residents of existing neighbourhoods and other area
landowners will be consulted during the development of the new area structure
