City Council Sending Letter To Premier About Cuts To Post Secondary

LETHBRIDGE - Lethbridge City Council will be sending a letter to Premier Redford to ask that she reconsider funding cuts to post secondary education.

In the latest budget, the province cut 7 percent of operating grants to post secondary institutions, which is creating challenges across the province.

Mayor Rajko Dodic says "when you have two post secondary institutions in this city, with the Lethbridge College and the University of Lethbridge, with the number of students, with the number of folks that are employed there, this is going to have a significant trickle down effect on not only the University and the College but as well as other businesses that depend on whether it be the students, or the professors , or the administrative staff, or the support staff."

Mayor Dodic hopes the letter will have some impact, if not now, than certainly in the future moving forward.
