LETHRBIDGE: Residents had the chance to acknowledge the passing of a Lethbridge Fire
Fighter during a funeral procession Saturday morning.
Captain Jon Enander passed away on Sunday at the age of 62 after a battle
with cancer related to the work of firefighting. Captain Enander was an active
member of the department and his untimely death is considered to be in the line
A 10 to 15-minutes funeral procession traveled from the Royal Canadian
Legion down Mayor Magrath Drive to 6th Avenue South.
6th Avenue South was narrowed down to one lane in each direction from 9:00-am to 1:00-pm to allow emergency vehicles to park on both sides of the street in front of the Coast
The funeral service at the Coast Hotel, began at 11:00, then
funeral procession traveled from the Coast Hotel to Cornerstone Funeral Home.
The procession consisted of emergency vehicles with a police escort.
Members of the public came out to view the procession and are
thanked by the Fire Department for their patience during the traffic delays that occurred.
