City Man Faces Eight Charges For Possession And Obstruction
LETHBRIDGE: Driving erratically in the wee hours of the morning caught the attention of
Regional Police and lead to a string of charges against a city man.
About 3:18 on Friday morning, an officer stopped a vehicle near the 200 block
of 20 Street North. The 29-year old driver, who displayed signs of impairment,
initially provided a false name. However, he was eventually identified and found
to have outstanding warrants.
The suspect was arrested and during a search police recovered just over 136
grams of cocaine as well as quantities of Oxycontin, psilocybin (mushrooms), marihuana, an
unidentified brown powder that has been sent for further testing and cash. The
estimated street value of the cocaine is about $17,000.
Ali Shama, is charged with two counts each of possession of a controlled
substance for the purpose of trafficking and possession of a controlled
substance, as well as one count each of possession of the proceeds of crime,
obstructing a peace officer, impaired driving and dangerous driving.
