Lethbridge Public Library Board of Directors Appoints New CEO

LETHBRIDGE:   Anthony P. (Tony) Vanden Heuvel joins the Lethbridge Public Library administrative team as CEO effective June 1, 2013.

During his five-year renewable term, Vanden Heuvel will manage a budget of over $5 million, a staff of more than 100 who work in two library facilities and a mobile library, and will report to a ten-person Board of Directors appointed by the City of Lethbridge according to the Municipal Government Act and the Libraries Act.

Vanden Heuvel is a management consultant with more than 20 years of experience advising and operating small, medium-sized and large-scale businesses in Lethbridge and southern Alberta. He holds a Chartered Accountant designation, and a Certified Management Consultant designation. He is also a life-long southern Alberta resident.

The Library is entering its 2013 - 2017 Plan of Service, which is a comprehensive business plan outlining the next five years of operation for the 102-year-old organization. Last year, it drew more than 730,000 visitors, organized or hosted more than 6,800 community events and circulated more than 1.4 million items.

Vanden Heuvel will transition into his position with the help of Acting Director Elisabeth Hegerat, who will ease back into her former role of Associate Librarian over the next few months.
