LETHBRIDGE: Anthony P. (Tony) Vanden Heuvel joins the Lethbridge Public Library
administrative team as CEO effective June 1, 2013.
During his five-year renewable term, Vanden Heuvel will manage a budget of
over $5 million, a staff of more than 100 who work in two library facilities and
a mobile library, and will report to a ten-person Board of Directors appointed
by the City of Lethbridge according to the Municipal Government Act and the
Vanden Heuvel is a management consultant with more than 20 years of
experience advising and operating small, medium-sized and large-scale businesses
in Lethbridge and southern Alberta. He holds a Chartered Accountant
designation, and a Certified Management Consultant designation. He is also a
life-long southern Alberta resident.
The Library is entering its 2013 - 2017 Plan of Service, which is a
comprehensive business plan outlining the next five years of operation for the
102-year-old organization. Last year, it drew more than 730,000 visitors,
organized or hosted more than 6,800 community events and circulated more than
1.4 million items.
Vanden Heuvel will transition into his position with the help of Acting
Director Elisabeth Hegerat, who will ease back into her former role of Associate
Librarian over the next few months.
