Major Donations Will Provide New Playground For Picture Butte School Children

PICTURE BUTTE:   A lot can happen in a year and a lot of money can be raised for a community endeavor.

On Thursday morning, there was a gathering at Dorothy Dalgliesh School in Picture Butte, to celebrate three major donations, totaling $67,000, toward construction of a new playground.

Lethbridge-East MLA Bridget Pastoor presented a $40,000 Community Facilities Enhancement Program grant.  Also, Ray Schlamp, representing Richardson Pioneer Ltd. in Nobleford,  presented a $10,000 gift; and County of Lethbridge Councillor Morris Zeinstra, presented a $17,000 grant from the Land Trust Reserve Fund.

With other fundraising completed over the past year, the school has the $97,500 it needs to proceed with construction of a new playground that will replace the old wooden structure at the north end of the school.

The new playground will be built by volunteers on August 9th and 10th.  They have the money and now, they just need the volunteers!  If you can help, call Palliser schools at 403-328-4111.
