Lethbridge Putting In Bid To Host Skate Canada International 2015

LETHBRIDGE - Lethbridge is putting in a bid to host the Skate Canada International in February 2015.

It's one of six Grand Prix events of the International Skating Union and would bring 60 figure skaters from over 12 countries. The local economic impact of hosting this week long event is $5.5-million and provincially it's $7.8-million.

The City is providing financial support of $250,000 in kind and cash. Jaci Zalesak with the bid committee says $100,000 will go towards use of the Enmax Centre and making it a white building with all the advertising removed, and the rest will go to things like transportation, accommodations, and signage.

Bids are being submitted this week and the host city will be named in September.
