ERCB Approves Pipelines and Gas Well Battery in Beaver Mines Area
LETHBRIDGE: The Energy Resources Conservation Board (ERCB) has approved, with conditions, the construction and use of two pipelines and a single gas well battery in the Beaver Mines area for Shell Canada Limited.
The pipelines are about 1.2-kilometres long and are needed by Shell for the company's existing Waterton 68 well, which was approved by the ERCB in 2011.
Following a hearing in Pincher Creek in March of this year, the board noted that they were satisfied that Shell had met all conditions previously put in place for the Waterton 68 well, and that they could operate the new lines safely.
The conditions in place include measures such as environmental monitoring and the creation of an emergency response plan, which will then be tested by an independent third party.
