Alberta Ombudsman Visits Lethbridge

LETHBRIDGE - Alberta's Ombudsman, Peter Hourihan, was in Lethbridge on Thursday to increase awareness about what his office can do for people.

The Alberta Ombudsman responds to complaints when people feel they've been treated unfairly or unjustly by the provincial government and there's some professional organizations that are included in their jurisdiction as well.

Talking about the most common complaints, Hourihan says "some of them are benefit driven programs, such as workers compensation, AISH or PDD, maintenance enforcement program, but we get complaints or concerns raised about a variety of areas."

If they determine someone was treated unjustly, they make recommendations to different levels of the government.

Hourihan encourages anyone who feels they have been treated unfairly to call 1-888-455-2756 toll free.
