Groups Protest Provincial Cuts To PDD

LETHBRIDGE - A group gathered in Galt Gardens this afternoon to protest funding cuts against persons with developmental disabilities. They we're joining other protests across the province.

In Edmonton, a thousand people rallied at the Alberta legislature demanding the province roll back $42-million in cuts to community programs.

The province is increasing the overall amount of money to the developmentally disabled this year, but sharply cutting back on some programs.

Premier Redford has said the change is needed to better assist the developmentally disabled and adds that no one who needs care will go without.
