Lethbridge: The Sports Bid Committee has named Lea Switzer as the Chair for the 2015 Alberta 55 Plus Winter Games that will be held in Lethbridge.
Participants will take part in a number of competitions including cross country skiing, alpine skiing and curling, along with several indoor competitions such as 5 pin bowling, darts and Scrabble.
"I really would like to see the participants particularly have a very fulfilling and rewarding experience. I would really like to see the volunteers come out of the end of February 2015 saying wow, I'd really like to do this again." said Switzer.
Switzer expects they will need about 300 volunteers for the event.
"It is an opportunity to bring people with experience and with no experience and to learn from each other. That creates a vibrancy because everybody knows people that have volunteered in the past come with a certain knowledge base and we'd like to access that for sure, but we'd also like to encourage people that haven't even thought about doing something like this to step forward and join the fun." adds Switzer.
She says right now they're putting together the executive group and planning is going very well.
