Residents Asked To Vote For "Main Street Matters"

LETHBRIDGE: The Lethbridge Downtown Revitalization Zone (BRZ) is asking you to get online and vote, as our city works to make the top 20 in the "Main Street Matters" initiative.

It's a contest put on by Benjamin Moore involving more than 100 communities across North America, which will see the top 20 main streets receive a fresh coat of paint.

Ted Stilson with the BRZ talks about why our community needs to make the cut, "We have a number of historic buildings in our downtown that could use a fresh coat of paint on the outside, so we've got two great heritage buildings in China town that desperately need a fresh coat of paint on the outside and the property owner doesn't have the funds to do that."

It's kind of an economic development generator as well too, because if we can put some contractors to work painting up some of our heritage buildings in the downtown core, it's great for the economy, and again allows us to brighten up our downtown.

You can vote for Lethbridge at www.paintwhatmatters.ca up until June 30th.
