A water main break at a U-of-L construction site adjacent to the Students’ Union
Building Wednesday night, saw water move through the Library Building, into the Centre for the Arts
and parts of University Hall. Water gushed down stair-wells and flooded numerous hall ways.

As of noon Wednesday, there was still no dollar figure on the total damage inflicted on the
U-of-L President Mike Mahon noted that while it will take quite a while
to sort everything out and make the necessary repairs, it shouldn't have a
significant impact on students. He says, "While we have had to cancel some
classes that were in the University Centre for the Arts as well as the library
today (Thursday) and tomorrow (Friday), we're business as usual on campus beyond
that and we'll be looking to relocate classes that would be impacted over the

server was damaged. However, I-T services worked throughout the day to
resolve the issues and had student email and major I-T services operational by late afternoon.
Mahon added that they're still in the process of figuring out exactly how
the water main broke.
