LETHBRIDGE: The race for the Mayor's chair in the October civic election now has two
Chris Spearman has decided to take another stab at the position,
after losing to Rajko Dodic by only 208 votes in the 2010 election.
One of the main priorities Spearman says he will focus on if elected Mayor,
is accountability. He says he would propose a policy that future compensation
adjustments for members of City Council would only apply to subsequent Councils
and that would follow a municipal election.
Spearman also noted he learned from the last election campaign that he has to
do more fund raising heading into the election, as other candidates out-paced
his fund raising four to one.
In spite of the limited fund raising, Spearman still came in a close second in the
Right now, the only other contender for the Mayor's chair is Councillor Faron
Ellis, who made his intentions known on May 16th.
