Measures You Can Take to Help Prevent Flooding this Week
LETHBRIDGE: Following Monday nights downpour and with steady rain in the forecast until Friday, there are some steps you can take to help protect your property from flooding.
Transportation Operations Manager Lee Perkins reminds you to help clear blocked catch basins in your neighbourhood, put your down-spouts down and away from your foundation, and avoid using water inside your home during a heavy rain storm as that will only put more pressure on the system.
Perkins added that while it may be a little late this week, you should correct the grading around your home to keep water flowing away from your foundation.
If you need help you can call the Public Operations Emergency number at 403-320-3850.
Perkins pointed out that when things get bad it may take city crews a little while to get to your property, stating that any preventative measures you take will help a great deal.
